Cooperation and Mutual Benefits in Quest of Development

     Recently, top word focused by the globe is the Belt and Road.  What is the Belt and Road?  It’s the abbreviation of Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road.  In September and October of 2013, President Xi Jinping visited countries in Mid Asia and Southeast Asia and took the initiatives of co-building the Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road, which gotten by great concerns by International community.

     As we know, Silk Road was originated from China.  It was a very important trading route connected Asia, Europe, and Africa in ancient times.    By this route, silks, chinas from China were continuously delivered to Mid Asia, Europe and North Africa.  In the meantime, spices and vegetables from these regions were carried to China by the same way.  

     Maritime Silk Road was sea-lane between China and other regions around the world in economic and cultural exchanges in ancient times.   This Road was started from China’s southeast coastal areas, passed Indo-China Peninsula and countries in the South China Sea, went through the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea, finally got to the East Africa and Europe.  The continental and maritime silk roads became the great routes for trading, economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and also pushed co-development of economy and trade amid the countries along the roads.

     Nowadays, Silk roads have been in the visual field again.  On May 14 and 15 of this year, the Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum was held in Beijing.  This is a great meeting for all the participants to discuss and build the Belt and Road and share the achievement of mutual benefits and cooperation.  It’s also a main platform to promote International cooperation and join development strategy.  In the wake of deep development of the Belt and Road cooperation, no doubt it will further accelerate the economic and trading exchanges between China and other countries in the globe, improve the bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and share development achievement by mutual benefits and profits.
